I told someone that what I liked so much about this little painting is that it felt like a bruise. What I meant is that it seems to address a place that is temporary and transitional. Something in the color and brushiness, perhaps evoking Spring or Fall, the shifting seasons. Like a bruise it does not stay, we find it slightly different on each view.
