Maybe you remember the XTC song “Complicated Game”… a little cynical angst to bring me back to my youth. Lately I’ve watched my son get taller than me and I’ve been wondering when he’ll be reaching some of those dark spaces. They seemed inevitable to me, but maybe not for him? We’ll see. Regardless, adolescence and adulthood, even in their lighter renditions, are pretty complicated games to work through.
